Bonaire nightlife - dance, drink, have fun!
Bonaire holds its own when compared to many spots in the Caribbean when it comes to night time activities. The obvious, night diving and snorkeling, are a given, but there are a lot more activities that visitors can enjoy topside. A number of the resorts host slide presentations that are the work of photo pros that live on the island. Many of the shots are unique and will amaze even the most experienced diver. Other shows offer a glimpse into the early days of diving on Bonaire and still others are eclectic presentations of the flora and fauna of the island. Want to dance the night away? There are a number of Oceanside bars and cafes, often with live music played by one of the island's musical groups, including City Cafe and Karel's Beach Bar. Catch the sounds of Bonaire with live music from Bonaire's own Moogie. Moogie performs jazz, R&B, Caribbean and reggae. Check out Moogie's schedule for his regular weekly performances 5 days a week. If you are feeling lucky, there is a casino that has slots and table games for you to test your skill. Divi Flamingo Beach is open every night except Sunday until the wee hours. For movie watching or the video gaming set, Movieland Cinema has opened the Gameland Cafe with arcade games for everyone. There are many scheduled nighttime activities according to season. Early October is Regatta time and in February, Carnival is the main attraction. Other choices are to see the sunset from aboard the Samur, an authentic Siamese Junk, or from the Woodwind, a trimaran. Romantic dinner cruises are available on the Oscarina, a sailing yacht. Night dives, especially at the town pier. Check out a flick at the Bonaire Twin Cinema. There are many slide shows and lectures various nights of the week at the Harbour Village Beach Resort, the Sand Dollar Condominium Resort, Divi's Flamingo Beach, and at Captain Don's Habitat. On weekends, many of the Ranchos (local ranches) have live bands and local cuisine, and open their doors to both locals and tourists. Don't forget to check out the Flamingoes at sunset from Pekelmeer. Be sure to bring your binoculars or telephoto lens.
